Ask a question

Inspired by the colorful Islands of Venice, Italy, the Murano bracelet is a long 43 inches, adaptable as a bracelet, anklet, necklace or waist beads. On the wrist it is worn as a 4 wrap. Each bracelet has over 550 antique 100 year old Murano Glass beads dating back to between 1890 and 1910. These beads were made by the Societa Veneziana Conterie, a consortium of 16 independent Venetian bead makers that joined together from 1898-1992 and created glass products in a huge brick factory on the island of Murano, Italy. The beads were hugely popular world-wide, especially in the 1920's and 30's, yet the Societa became comfortable after years of prosperity and failed to prepare for the inevitable change in tastes of today's consumer and the rising costs of energy, transportation and labor. The factories were sold and then converted into a resort hotel in the early 1990's. These particular beads are "floor sweepers" meaning they were swept off the floor of the factories before renovations began. A small part of 7 tons of beads that were collected. The Murano bracelet from Journeymen Beads will make for a delicate yet sparkling accessory to your style. This is our 4th and final stock of this highly collectible piece. We sell out fast so order soon.

The beads measure between 2mm and 3mm each, some containing a silver lining for sparkle and bling. Please view all the photos before purchasing. Model is wearing a 2 bracelet stack, 8 total wraps.

We gather our beads from all over the world, taking particular notice of those beads with culture, history and collectability, and string them on sturdy elastic cord. PLEASE READ OUR ABOUT PAGE FOR EXPLANATION OF BEAD VARIATION AND COLOR.

Care instructions

Many of our bracelets include antique bone, horn and natural seed beads. All of these are susceptible to damage from excessive moisture. We recommend not wearing them while swimming or exercising. Our metal beads and some of our bone beads will patina over time. This is normal and the original color pallet accounts for the transition in tone.
