Vintage Beaded Men's Bracelet /Bracelet For Men

$37.99

Inspired by the iconic and colorful Cadillacs buried in a hot Texas field along historic Route 66, the Cadillac Ranch bracelet is a rich tapestry of color and texture. Its unique style derives from the Kakamba Prosser Beads, a cold paste glass pressing process invented in London by the Prosser Brothers in 1840. The technique was further developed in France in the 1860's by Jean-Felix Bapterosses, who, by adding milk to the glass and porcelain, the mixture became more malleable for bead manufacturing, creating a multitude of color variety, translucent look and semi gloss shine to the beads. Over 600 tons of Prosser Beads were manufactured annually at his factory in Braire, France. At the height of the African trade movement these beads were highly prized. So prized in Kakamba in the Republic of Congo that the bead became known as the Kakamba bead in Africa. One last fact, the beads were strung on cheap filament, breaking often, but, Africans were told it was bad luck to pick them up. To this day, Kakamba beads are found buried in farm fields all over Africa.

You'll be wearing a 24 inch triple wrap bracelet of 6mm beads, in all over 140 beads. The beads are quite unique compared to modern day Kakamba beads. They have a heavy weight on the wrist with a moderate shine and a vivid color palette. The variation of tone in each bead is extraordinary, creating a handsome sight against any wrist. We were only able to get a very small quantity of these beads for this design. We've sprinkled in some African Heishi beads in silver along with either steel or marcasite (pyrate) toned 8 mm balls. The end result is a stunning display, sure to command compliments with every wear. Only 4 available. Order soon.

Strung in a men's 24 inch length, it is suitable for a women's double wrap anklet. If you would like a custom length 21 inch women's please email us here. Although the color pallet is similar, each bracelet is uniquely different and not all beads listed are in each piece. Please view all the photos before purchasing.

We gather our beads from all over the world, taking particular notice of those beads with culture, history and collectability, and string them on sturdy elastic cord. PLEASE READ OUR ABOUT PAGE FOR EXPLANATION OF BEAD VARIATION AND COLOR.

Yes of course! We can make any of our styles in any length. We also offer commission orders and will do our best to collaborate with you to get the best result. Remember, we only use vintage and antique beads so inventory may be gone when you ask for a customized style.

Care instructions

Many of our bracelets include antique bone, horn and natural seed beads. All of these are susceptible to damage from excessive moisture. We recommend not wearing them while swimming or exercising. Our metal beads and some of our bone beads will patina over time. This is normal and the original color pallet accounts for the transition in tone.
